PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

Participants explore hospitality and tourism through service delivery, operations, leadership, and visitor experience. The programme combines vocational training, employer-led industry exposure, destination learning, and professional practice to provide a unique understanding of how successful hospitality and tourism environments operate.

Participants gain direct exposure to internationally recognised organisations including Edinburgh College, The Royal Yacht Britannia, Fingal Hotel, Tartan Viking, and leading Highlands tourism experiences, enabling them to observe best practice within real-world hospitality and tourism settings.

The programme is particularly relevant for organisations supporting the development of emerging tourism destinations, enabling participants to apply international best practice in service excellence, visitor experience design, and destination management within their own organisational and regional contexts.

PROGRAMME JOURNEY

Visitor Perspective & Cultural Immersion
Participants experience Scotland as international visitors, developing a customer-centred understanding of hospitality and tourism through observation of service standards and visitor engagement.

Delivered in collaboration with Edinburgh College, participants undertake structured vocational training covering areas such as:

  • Allergen Awareness
Participants gain direct insight into premium hospitality operations through learning experiences at The Royal Yacht Britannia and Fingal Hotel, exploring service excellence, visitor experience, operational management, and leadership within internationally recognised hospitality environments.
Participants develop practical communication, storytelling, visitor engagement, and group management skills through guided tourism experiences within Edinburgh’s tourism environment.
The programme concludes with destination-based learning exploring tourism systems, sustainable tourism models, and the relationship between urban tourism and rural destinations, including the Scottish Highlands.
